Choosing a Worldwide Agent
Finding an agent abroad is as easy as finding water in the sea - they are plentiful. Choosing the RIGHT agent, however, is not that simple. We are cautioned to "choose wisely" since these agents act as your eyes and ears throughout the selection, the buying process and beyond completion.
Sensible words but how exactly do you choose wisely?
Word of Mouth
Naturally the best way is by recommendation from friends and trusted business associates who have buying experience in that country. Agents will provide you with testamonials from clients but, be aware that some agents offer incentives for these referrals. Obtain contact details for these clients and question what they think about the service and whether they are satisfied with the property they chose.
Internet Highway
So much information is available online that you can conduct a fairly extensive study on the country and local area before you need to leave the comfort of your home. There is no substiture for a "recce"
What to expect of your agent

- they should provide guidance of the price you should be paying or what type of property you can expect with your budget
- they should have numerous local contacts to source an approriate property
- they should have excellent knowledge of the country's regulations, customs and laws and, importantly, how they affect you
- they should be able to recommend the necessary contacts needed to follow through the buying processit would be beneficial if they offer after-sales service including furnishing, financial advice and lettings processregular and informative communication
