UK House Prices Rise In first Month Of 2011

Despite the 0.8% increase in January prices are still 2.4% lower than the same time last year.  Currently the "average UK home" costs £164,173.

The typical home in the UK now cost £164,173, it said.

The recent drop in house prices have seen homeowners restrain from putting their properties on the market and has resulted in Agents nationwide short of stock.

Banks and building societies have commented that the rise and falls in house prices are all a matter of geography with locations such as London seeing a 6.2% rise in prices over 2010 whilst the North East suffered the biggest reduction by 3.3%.
